Course Overview

Getting ready for the summer season and learn how to use this most portable and beautiful of mediums to record happy moments.

Workshop theme: The Holiday Sketchbook aka Travel Sketching

Join us for a one-day travel sketching in watercolour workshop. Tanya will teach you how to simplify scenes and capture them quickly. You'll learn to use a few pigments, set up compositions with colour washes, and practice sketching familiar subjects. We'll focus on capturing light and mood with efficient water techniques. After a short studio intro, we'll sketch in nearby streets and parks. The workshop also covers creating nimble watercolour kits and making your own sketchbooks.

What to expect

Each workshop is designed around particular themes and goals, with exercises and ideas to practice a full range of watercolour techniques. You will learn the methods of the masters and of contemporary artists, and Tanya will guide you to develop your own style.

Workshop Delivery

After a short introduction in the studio, students will practice from life in the streets and parks around Art Est.
