Course Overview

An energised and structured expressive drawing and mixed media course which will teach you a broad range of techniques to develop your drawing skill and creativity. Lessons are designed to build on and enhance participants existing experience with new ideas and approaches.

Push your drawing ability further with supportive guidance to create your own unique artwork.

What will I achieve?

Results you can expect to achieve in this course are 

  • to develop drawing skills in a variety of mixed media, including charcoal and ink
  • learn loosening up techniques that promote individual expression
  • refine your observational and composition awareness while working on specially designed projects tailored to individual creative expression.

Student feedback

Is this course right for me?

This course is suitable for intermediate and advanced students.

Materials

Please bring the following drawing materials:

  • A3 or A2 (A2 or A1 cartridge paper drawing pad if you prefer to work larger) cartridge paper sketch book
    A3 Better-quality drawing pad, 220gsm or more
    Compressed and willow charcoal
    Hard eraser (not only a kneadable one)
    2B or 4B pencil and sharpening knife and sharpener
    Ink - black or sepia
    A few soft pastels, including warm white
    A few brushes, cheap and old ones will be okay for this course.
    An acrylic colour of your choice plus white
    Masking tape, bulldog clips, paper towel, disposal gloves & containers for ink

*Some other materials may be suggested during the course.
