In this fun hand-building class you will sculpt and decorate a quirky, colourful bird using your own creativity. No experience necessary, as you will be shown various clay sculpting methods including coiling and slab techniques to construct your bird. Use textured rollers to give your bird different patterns on their feathers and paint with underglazes, to bring colour to their bird. If you like you may bring pictures of birds that interest you for inspiration.
What to expect
This is a 4 hour workshop. Your tutor, Kara Pryor, is here to make your experience easy and fun.
Your sculpture will be left to dry further before bisque firing. We will then apply a clear glaze for second firing and will get in touch to let you know when it is ready to collect. (Approx 3 weeks after your workshop.)
What will you achieve?
During this workshop, you will:
- Create a quirky bird sculpture approx 15cm in height.
- Learn Kara Pryor's professional tips and tricks for sculpting with clay.
- Learn about glazing and surface decoration techniques
- Learn from the best — Kara Pryor has been a ceramicist for over 25 years and is well-known for her quirky animals, mythical creatures, and the extreme detail on her out-of-this-world teapots.

This is a class for adults. No prior experience required.
